Hillary Clinton in green dress at Chelsea's pre-wedding party, fashion faux pas? (pictures)
Former First Lady and current Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is no novice to criticism in the fashion department; Anna Wintour, the editor of Vogue, advised Clinton to stop wearing her signature pantsuits during the 2008 presidential campaign. Perhaps she was smart in refusing to take Wintour’s advice before, as her latest outfit worn to her daughter Chelsea’s rehearsal dinner has been seen by some as a fashion faux pas.
Leaving her iconic, colored pantsuits behind, Hillary Clinton stepped out in a printed green, V-neck caftan. Some see this look as “glamorous” (People), while others have described Hillary as a “green bat” (Styleite). While the color may be flattering to Hillary’s complexion, the print of the dress gave the allusion of horizontal stripes across her frame, while excess material draped from the sleeve to the dress hem. This pattern and cut of dress makes Hillary appear larger than she actually is, especially when standing next to former president Bill Clinton in his stylishly subtle sport jacket and slacks.

Hillary is the smartest woman in the world and she's so beautiful!
Hillary can wear it and stand out from the crowd. she's not afraid to be away from the status quo. it worked for her.. the dress came out rather charming.
I love it. It's breezily anti-fashion, its comfortable, its self-confident. A highly successful Yale grad, lawyer, now Secretary of State, mother of an accomplished daughter does not need "fashion" at this stage in her life. As a Brit it reminds me of something The Queen or Queen Mother would wear, that is, something totally unfashionable because, well, they are beyond fashion they don't have to please anyone. Hillary does not need Anna Wintour's approval or anyone else for that matter. She does her own thing. Take it or leave it. Not having to please anyone is ultimate power. Just ask Angela Merkel or Margaret Thatcher.

She looked stunning! She is exquisite. This looked beautiful on her. I hope she wears it often at her warm weather evening events.
It's great to see Hillary in something soft and feminine instead of her usual iron pants suits!! She looked stunning!!
Though ultimately it is "too each his own", my first thought was one of a definite fashion DON'T!
It's about as flattering as a moo moo. She appears very matronly and obese in these photos. Though bodice is slightly fitted the sides of the gown visually added extra width to her figure.
