Franz Ferdinand - Bumbershoot

All the way from Bonnie Scotland, just like me, only with a better idea of what they were going to do once they got here, came Franz Ferdinand. Other than distant corners, Memorial Stadium filled up very well for this fashonable band, and the band didn't let an expectant crowd composed of Ferdinand diehards and general music fans down.

Whereas Glasvegas didn't impress me at all with their posing and self importance when they played Neumos in Seattle, Franz Ferdinand were the polaqr opposite, acting like people here to entertain not posture. Their interaction with the large crowd was excellent and lead vocalist Alex Kapranos was superb in warming them up between numbers.

"Take Me Out", "The Dark of the Matinée" and "This Fire" were dutifully performed to a happy crowd, who joined in enthusiastically but well under the control of observant and efficient stewards.

How many remain for Modest Mouse remains to be seen, but Franz Ferdinand would have been a great memory of Bumbershoot for those that leave now.
