Since opening last summer, Henri & Odette has made good on its promise to create a "metropolitan meeting place" in decidedly un-metropolitan Las Vegas. Owner and curator Jennifer Harrington – a graduate of UNLV's fine arts program – continues to innovate, both with tradition-defying exhibits from hand-selected national and local artists and with events such as a monthly dinner series in which participants enjoy ethnic cuisine while talking with featured artists.
The next phase in Henri & Odette's cultural revolution on Sixth Street is "The Downtown Project," a photo exhibit by local shutterbug Jennifer Maupin. In the series, Maupin takes viewers on a photographic journey through some of the people making a difference in the revitalization of downtown Las Vegas. Subjects featured in the show include Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman, Downtown Cocktail Room owner Michael Cornthwaite and real estate developer Sam Cherry.
"We are delighted to honor our neighbors with a show for them," said Harrington.
"The Downtown Project" opens with a reception at Henri & Odette on Friday, March 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. The gallery is located at 124 S. Sixth St., on Carson Avenue between Sixth Street and Las Vegas Boulevard.
