We’ve created a unique contest designed to partner the art community with area businesses to support local artists.
Unique aspects:
1. $12,000 award money
2. 7 area artists will be selected to exhibit their work on Henderson Avenue for a two year placement.
3. This will be an annual contest, adding new artists every year.
4. The ultimate goal is to bring art to Henderson Avenue and promote Dallas art.
5. This is the Ultimate Juried show. We have assembled some of the most influential leaders in the art community, as well as, university professors, gallery owners, and city officials to serve on the judging panel. 6. To get the public at large involved, we are conducting a citywide digital vote to select the People’s Choice award to the top three artists of the seven placed.
7. To reach beyond the contest, H.A.P. will partner with a different non-profit organization each year and all entry fees will be donated to these organizations. This year the Henderson Art Project is partnering with the Texas Sculpture Association.
8. H.A.P. t-shirts will go to all stakeholders involved in the event, including each artist that submits an application.
9. The project is underwritten by Andres Properties and Phoenix Property Company.
10. Finally, this event is designed to be a win/win/win occurrence where the community, local merchants, area artists and art community as a whole benefit. We continue to seek opportunities to reach out and use the momentum of H.A.P. to embrace other stakeholders. This is one way DMN can be a major contributor to this endeavor.
