(Atlanta, Georgia) January 18, 2010--Studio Clout Fine Art Gallery would like to announce a new art exhibit for Lauren Karnitz. The opening reception to display Karntiz's work will debut on Friday, January 29, 2010 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Studio Clout located at 144 Walker Street, Atlanta, GA 30313.
Karnitz's work can be described as an exploration of the extraordinary in our everyday lives, infusing these moments in time and space with a child-like curiosity and enthusiasm. In this collection you will see a grass set aglow by the setting sun, a chorus of clothesline laundry flouncing in the wind, flocks of birds executing formations against austere cloud banks, quiet spaces transformed by surprising light.
"I am challenged as a painter to remain at the crossroads of mark making and recognition, where definitions of realism evolve through visual propositions that challenge and revere established contexts. On a formal level my work seeks to reinterpret figural landscape conventions, such as perspective, articulation, and scale. In my compositions, areas of articulation and arrangement alongside conspicuous evidence of materiality and painting process provide a tension between construction and deconstruction," says Karnitz who is also a founding partner and curator of downtown Knoxville's Three Flights Up Gallery. Her work is in private collections around the country.
