In the newest annual report issued on January 3rd by Planned Parenthood for the 2009-2010 fiscal year, taxpayer funded contributions by the Federal government to the abortion and family counseling organization reached nearly $500 million dollars, an increase of over $100 million from the previous year.
According to its latest annual report, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) received $487.4 million in tax dollars over a twelve-month period and performed 329,455 abortions.
The latest annual report covers the period from July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010, the PPFA’s fiscal year. The report states that the organization received “government health services grants and reimbursements” totaling $487.4 million.
The latest annual report claims that abortion services make up 3 percent of “medical services,” but PPFA states it served 3 million people and performed 329,445 abortions – numbers that show 11 percent of customers received an abortion.
A spokesperson with Planned Parenthood told Bloomberg’s Businessweek last year that 90 percent of government funding the organization gets is from the federal government or from Medicaid. – CNS News
40 years after Roe v. Wade, the primary issue to the American people is not whether abortion should be legal, but whether taxpayers should pay for the personal decisions made by individuals for choices made. The amount of pregnancies created by rape, or other criminal violence is around 1% according to studies listed on WebMD and the Guttmacher Institute, which leaves 99% of all abortions performed tied to medical risk (less that 5%), socio-economic reasons, or personal choice.
The United States government entered 2012 virutally bankrupt, with medical based spending accounting for 21% of the entire budget. This equates to $732 billion dollars, and is climbing as healthcare costs explode in the public and private sectors. With the Obama healthcare program starting in 2013, healthcare costs will become more scrutinized, with many non-medical risk programs being evaluated using medical panels. However, according to early indications of Obamacare, abortion funding will continue, or even grow in the future, while end of life health funding may be cut for many seniors.
Planned Parenthood is a billion dollar corporation, which receives nearly $500 million per year to counsel familes, assist in adoptions, and provide abortion services for citizens around the country, and according to their own reports, taxpayers fund the majority of these abortions, paying for the choices others make based on a non-medical lifestyle events.
