Two new IMAX AMC Theaters in Phoenix, AZ, the AMC Desert Ridge 18 and the AMC Westgate 20, invite you to join them at the opening of their new IMAX screens with an environmentally friendly Holiday celebration on December 18th!

Everyone attending the AVATAR showing at 7:15 PM at AMC Desert Ridge 18, and the 8:30 PM showing at AMC Westgate 20 will receive a certificate designating that their carbon footprint has been offset for an entire week.  In addition a tree will be planted in their honor as part of the Plant a Billion Trees project from the Nature Conservancy.  Finally, the first 150 people in each theatre will receive a reusable IMAX grocery bag full of information from local environmentally conscious businesses!

The carbon offsets will be provided by EcoAid, a local company that is a member of the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX), North America’s only legally binding Greenhouse Gas Emissions Registry.  They are helping the IMAX audience attain Carbon Neutral status for a week by offsetting their carbon emissions.  They do this by using certified and verified carbon offsets that support a wide range of environmental projects like clean energy, reforestation and gas capture.

These new IMAX theatres will be the hottest places to see James Cameron’s new film AVATAR in IMAX 3D when it opens in theatres on December 18th.
