MONDAY MORNING HOLLYWOOD

Pink Guitar – Check
Talent – Check
Ready to Take on the World – Check

She’s held her own beside legends like Tippi Hedren and Mickey Rooney. She’s been everything from Tinker Bell in her school play to a feature film actress to a musician lending her talents to concert fundraisers for causes that touch her heart, and Jamey Geston is just eleven-years-old. Maybe it’s the Hollywood royalty running through her blood that’s got her so driven and comfortable. Maybe it’s that the Bridges family is so grounded and supportive of each other. Maybe it’s magic. Whatever the case, nothing is going to get in Jamey Geston’s way of making all of her dreams come true.

What was the first job you ever had?
My first acting job was when I was 4 years old. I had a lead in short film called, “Five Degrees Of Grace.” It was in Denver and we were shooting outside in the freezing cold. I got a lot of hot chocolate that day.

What made you pursue a career in Hollywood?
I don't know if I planned to pursue a career in Hollywood. It just happened. I spent three years at The Colorado Springs Music Conservatory. I have an uncle in the business. I have a supportive family who believes in me. All of that together is what got me here.

What was your first job in the movie/TV business and how did you get it?

My first real paying job was on the Disney movie, “Stick It.” I was six. The movie is about gymnastics. I’m a gymnast and my uncle had a leading role so he called and asked if I wanted to be in the movie with him. I was so excited that I ran screaming through the house. It wasn’t a big role, but I was still so excited to be asked… And then all my scenes got edited out, except one where you can see my legs. But that’s okay. I got my own trailer with my name on it. I was treated like a real cast member. I had my make-up and hair done. I even had an assistant who helped me throughout the shoot. I think my Uncle Jeff had something to do with that!

Do you have a favorite story from the trenches?
I have a story from shooting, “Wreck the Halls” with Mickey Rooney. All of us kids were singing “Silent Night” in a senior home. Mickey wasn’t there yet. We were supposed to be bored and not into singing to a bunch of "old" people. When Mickey came onto the set, he told them to "cut, cut. " He said, "you sounded like you were dying." Then the director told him that’s how we were supposed to be acting. We got a big laugh out of it. We did our part so well it had Mickey convinced.

What is your dream role?
Having a lead role with my uncle in something about music like “Crazy Heart.” I would also like to co-write a song for the movie with him.

What or who makes you laugh?

My music partner and friend Maxton Schulte. We get so silly and hyper together. We have so much fun.

What do you do on a typical day off?
I sleep late then get up and watch TV, play guitar, watch some videos on YouTube, get on Facebook, hang out with friends. I know it doesn’t sound productive, but this is how my creativity gets going.

What inspires you?
Music and people.

What advice do you have for aspiring filmmakers?
Do it with passion and follow your heart.

What are you doing now?
Answering questions for this interview, getting ready for school and finishing last nights homework (HaHa just kidding!). I am writing music and working on recording my first CD.

If you won the lottery today, what would you be doing tomorrow?
Celebrating and picking out a new guitar.

What do you hope to be doing ten years from now?
In ten years I will be 21. I hope to be a successful actress and songwriter/musician supporting causes that make a difference in other peoples lives.

What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Lemon.
