Denver filmmakers gearing up for shoot in Beaverton, Oregon

Award winning Colorado filmmakers Darla Rae (The Goal, Dandy Kids), Gary Otte (Dandy Kids, Memphis Psychosis) and Ken Hendricks (The Clearing, The Goal) will soon be traveling to Beaverton, Oregon, to start production on the suspenseful thriller Brutal. The film stars A. Michael Baldwin from the Phantasm cult films and newcomer Michael Stevens who wrote the screenplay. Rae is producing and co-directing with Stevens.

Rae’s company, Film It Productions, was contacted initially via Facebook by the New Zealand Production Company and Executive Producer Jennifer Beck. "It's been interesting that all of our pre-production and production meetings have taken place via Skype. We have Beck in New Zealand, Stevens in Oregon, all of us in Colorado, and a few in Los Angeles.”

Composer Alan Howarth, whose credits include Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Gremlins, Halloween II-VI, has signed on to score the film.

Rae who got her start in the industry as a featured extra in John Carpenter's original Halloween never thought she would be making a horror film in her fifties, but she is. “Basically you have two middle age women tackling a genre usually reserved for a younger, predominantly male demographic,” said Rae.

The film is scheduled for release in fall 2012.
