Liam Neeson is in the role of Hannibal Smith that was played by the late George Peppard. Bradley Cooper takes over the role of Templeton "Faceman" Peck that was played by Dirk Benedict of classic Battlestar Galactica fame. Recently retired UFC star Quinton "Rampage" Jackson now assumes the role of B.A. Baracus made famous by Mr. T and Sharlto Copley in the role of crazed ace pilot "Howling Mad" Murdock, played to the hilt by Dwight Schultz.
Based on the popular classic action tv series of the same name that ran on NBC from 1983 to 1987 from Universal Studios, the premise of the concept has been kept intact but altered for a more modernized take.
In the original show, four Vietnam vets were accused of armed robbery and escape from a military prison and became mercenaries-for-hire that did good deeds for people that were in need of desperate help, and even did occasional secret missions by the very government that were pursuing them to justify their own ends. In the movie, Vietnam has been replaced by the Middle East for the team's tour of duty.
"The A-Team" movie is being helmed by director Joe Carnaham ("Smoking Aces" and "Narc") and produced by series original creator Stephen J. Cannell, who wrote and directed many of the series episodes. Famed Hollywood director and producer brothers Tony and Ridley Scott are also on board as co-producers.
The movie will be out in theaters June 11, 2010. The aforementioned cast also joined by Jessica Biel who plays an Army General that is pursuing the team.
