The 2010 New York International Latino Film Festival is finally here. With more than 100 films – from world premieres, short films to documentaries and star-studded red carpets - to celebrate the creativity and talent of the Latino community in filmmaking.
Among this year’s roster is “The Accidental Death of Joey by Sue”. A love story that unfolds on the most unlikely day of the year of Dia de los Muertos (All Saint’s Day). Neal Thibedeau and Sarah Louise Wilson craft a very charming tale of young love, wrap around with hint of darkness and heartwarming tones that will enchant the festival’s audience.
Sue (Mercedes LeAnza) is not like most girls, she likes “last words” and “cemeteries” who suddenly freaks out after hearing the three words – which most women would kill to hear - during a passionate morning. From then on, Joey and Sue spend time apart figuring out whether or not their sudden love will live or die at the end.
“The Accidental Death of Joey by Sue” is a delightful treat at the 2010 NYILFF – proving once again the festival’s commitment to celebrate the best in Latino filmmaking.
World Premiere tonight at 5pm. Screens again on Sat, Jul 31 at 12pm
