Nonito Donaire Jr. tags Marquez (Photo by: Top Rank)
I spoke to 'The Filipino Flash' Nonito Donaire Jr. shortly after his sensational 8th round TKO victory over the young, hard-hitting Mexican fighter Hernan 'Tyson' Marquez at the Coliseo Jose Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico last night.
Donaire won in sensational fashion as he fought the first four rounds in the southpaw stance and switched back to his original orthodox stance in the middle of the fourth round and immediately scored a knockdown.
Donaire systematically picked his opponent apart using his faints and counter punching to land clean blows while his opponents was vulnerable.
The tough and game Mexican kept fighting and managed to hold his own in some rounds. He even left traces of his hard punching on Donaire's face after the fight, but at the end of the day, Donaire was simply too fast, too strong, too talented and too smart for the Mexican warrior.

In the 8th round, as Marquez picked up his pace and threw everything at Donaire except for the kitchen sink, 'The Filipino Flash' slipped and slid through the onslaught and combinations Marquez threw at him and landed a perfectly placed counter left upper cut that sent the Mexican's feet momentarily off the ground and landed him on the canvas. The corner of the young, brave but outmatched Marquez had no choice but to throw in the towel.

CONGRATZ NONITO!! dont change ur stance ever again esp when ur fighting a southpaw. its ok to switch up once in awhile but not for several rounds. we know that you dont fight like the OLD PACQIUAO but your style is a thing of beauty. i like how you systematically breakdown an opponent. i like how he said that he always wants to get better. its time to move up in weight, alot of exciting fights at 118, 122, 126. take it slowly nonito.
Nonito donaire will always give his heart out every time he steps into the ring. That what makes him an exciting and watchable fighter. The thing is Bob Arum does not want him to progress in the like of Manny Pacquiao by not giving him a fight with big name fighter to really measure his capability.
Every fan of his, including myself, knows that he can match well with Montiel or the guy who beat the hell out of Concepcion.
Is Arum afraid that Pacquiao's fan will desert him for Nonito? I don't think so. Only Manny can help Donaire at this time coz he has the ears of Arum. Arum will listen to him.
How about it Manny? We need to see Donaire fight high caliber fighters at this stage of his career. We do not want to see him mix it up with butaw-butaw fighters anymore.

1st off Donaire in my opinion is fighting another bum unfortunately.Obviously it could've been an early night if Donaire fought on his original stance as to a southpaw per say.So with all that I am still not convince that he belongs to the pound-4-pound list!With Concepcion, what in the world was that?!?!?! That is my 1st time seeing that boy fight and what a fragile fellah! LOL! He was all over the ring but in the worst way!In my opinion he needs to switch trainers cause he could be way better!I definitely see potential aside from his many flaws!He throws long punches that should've been shortened and he fights small!He definitely lacks ring smart and generalship and why his trainer did'nt taught him that.You cant slug it out with a boxer puncher like Lopez???

LOL I read that one hater below me who does not know spit from spat. Anyway, one thing for sure is that Nonito and Lopez's fight's that night were a mismatch. Why can't promoter do a better job pairing boxers to make fights more interesting. Bernabe was clearly out of Lopez league and everyone knows it, while I could say the same with Donaire's opponent.
Arum does not like donaire cause Don knows the right compensation a fighter have to receive after a fight. Arum is just too greedy. That is why Arum never set a better opponent against Donaire.
STOP THE LEFTY EXPERIMENT, IT LOOKS TERRIBLE! DONAIRE IS LUCKY THIS KID DID NOT KNOCK HIM OUT, BUT THE NEXT BIGGER AND TALLER GUY WILL. DONAIRE IS A BORING FIGHTER, SO HE NEEDS TO SPEED UP HIS GAME.
Bob Arum should 'pit' Donaire jr with the champions at the Bantam,and super bantam divisions.Fighting at the next level could add another spark on Donaire's career.It's time for Donaire to move up in weights and test his abilities with the likes of Morrel or Montiel.

Donaire's manager and promoter should wake up now before it's too late. Give Jun jun a real tough and big fight. He is for sure one of the top P4P in the sport.
There is only one Manny Pacquiao but Nonito Donaire for sure is another big thing in boxing and the Philippines' biggest hope to stay as one of the sport's powerhouse.

Nonito's performance was awsome! Marquez had skills and power but Nonito's boxing skills were just to slick.
Top Rank needs to give Nonito some shine and big fights especially that Manny is planning on retiring.
Nonito Jr. has all the skills to be on top of the world given that he moves up in weight and Top Rank give him the opportunity to fight the best and show the world what he's all about!
