Nonito Donaire Jr. got a phone call from no less than the Philippines' president Noynoy Aquino last night after he won his bout against Hernan 'Tyson' Marquez in the 8th round by TKO.
The newly elected president personally congratulated Donaire who is an adopted member of the Aquino family. "Congratulations Nonito and thank you for making your country proud," Aquino told Donaire via overseas phone call.
Donaire who has dedicated the remainder of his entire career to the late great president Corazon C. Aquino donned a replica of the gold trunks he wore in Pinoy Power 2 last year which bears the name 'AQUINO" on the back. The outfit was presented to the Aquinos last year to commemorate and honor their mother's contributions to the country. This time around, the 'AQUINO' on his trunks was to pay tribute to the new president of the Philippines Noynoy.
It's nice to see how Donaire never forgot about his roots even after moving to the US at such an early age. There are people out there who promote themselves as Filipinos and capitalize on Manny Pacquiao's fame and the influx of Filipinos in boxing but would not even recognize who Corazon C. Aquino is even if her name stared them right in the face.
Let's be honest for a second. There's really only one person right now that is capable of succeeding Pacquiao and the fact that he is patriotic and nationalistic only adds to his allure. The Filipino Flash has not even scratched the surface of his full potential and yet he is already considered by many as one of the top pound for pound fighter in the world.
Pacquiao is on the way out and if Mayweather refuses to fight him, there really isn't anything left for him to prove. Donaire is the future of Philippine boxing. Get with the program or get left behind.

Donaire is good but will have to tighten his guard against elite boxers or else he will get KO'd. I watched the fight, he was not in danger at any point in the game but he has to improve that guard. I hope he gets good fights coming up and good luck getting those belts.

i've been a boxing fan for a long time now and im telling you guys donaire is the real deal. not only because of his ring smarts this guy can talk! very eager to see his next fight..
Not impressed with Donaire's win over Marquez the midget. Imagine he has fought two consecutive midgets in his last fights, both Mexicans who just climbed from their respective division, the other first was fought by Nietes, the lower division Champ. He himself knew that he needs real competition. By this, he playfully exposed his weaknesses against his last foe, He should'nt have toyed Tyzon Marquez in the first place, but he should have finished him in the earlier rounds to show how ferocious Filipino's were when it comes to fighting.
Showmanship and being Flashy are just a part of entertaining audiences, but people are adamant in seeing how quick he would send his opponent to the canvass.. So that somehow the people and promoters would match him more against a credible opponents..
congratulations to PNoy. i just wanted to tell him, that ever since day one of his presidency, he's doing the equivalent of pulling out the thorns gloria embedded. Feeling so nice on a daily basis.
i hope that he'll be able to do it throughout his term..

Donaire is indeed a gifted boxer. he has the skills to become world champion but he needs to improve his defense. he has great foot speed but don't have a head-movement. he's quick in reflexes though...

Told you guys before, Buboy is not a real trainer, Manny P. believes Buboy was his lucky charm thats why he's in his corner, his achievements so far was winning Manny P' weight loss challenge. He's a nice guy but he's not supposed to train fighters due to limited knowledge in the sports . boxing is dangerous sports Abe should keep professional people on his corner .

The first time i saw Donaire in his fight with the cocky Darchinyan, I know he has the potential of making it at the top. He got all the tools to do it. Given the proper exposure he can roll over the big guns of heavier weights and become the next big thing of Philippine boxing after Pacman. A piece of advise Nonito, just dont mind the crabs hanging in here, Pilipinos had been like this from time immemorial and theres nothing new. Thats how stupid our populace is reason why were are being berated by other race. Instead of lifting our own people we ourselves steps on them.

Buboy is not the real deal and nothing has to be proven. As i told you, in the first round Buboy as coach must make some adjustment in second round eventhough Abe also knockdown Lopez. He needs badly a good movement and defense. It was too easy for Lopez to penetrate Abe. he should tell abe that his power is enough but defense is equally important in boxing. I still believe that abe has punch that can put Lopez in the canvas but he needs a coach like Penalosa style.
and i'm wondering why tap rank or bob arum is not paying too much attention on him?
I think its time for nonito to fight the big names in boxing to really prove his worth and be on his way to become a legend. I believe he can do it.. Hes a focused and dedicated person he deserves to be on the main event

It looks like to me that Koncz was secretly ordered by bob arum to replace freedie roach and alex ariza with unexperienced new coach boboy fernandez and new trainer (the name i do not know) so that concepcion will not win and that the lopez vs marquez will happen.
buboy and his assistant were like a comedians in a comedy show. taking the responsibility they can not handle. a shame to filipinos. koncz had lost five consecutive bout he had negotiated. firing koncz is the right thing pacman should do. koncz had no contribution to any of pacman's success. koncz should stay away from filipino boxers and pacman.
