It's the eve of his bout with Tyson Marquez when I spoke to Nonito Donaire Jr. who enjoyed a big steak for dinner after weighing-in with some to spare at 114.5 when I got assurance from his team that he is as ready as he could be for his fight Saturday night.
There have been some reports from various sources quoting the Donaire camp that the Filipino flash was struggling to cut down weight, but upon hearing it from the horses' mouth, Donaire guaranteed that everything was not only on schedule, furthermore, he feels great and not weak at all.
Donaire elaborated that it's never fun to cut down weight but also admitted that he had been eating all week while in Puerto Rico with the exception of the night before the weigh-ins which is further emphasized by him making weight without looking dehydrated. Donaire looked good during the weigh-ins.
Donaire said his conditioning is at an optimal level right that he can easily sweat and make weight, thanks large in part to his new scientific fitness and conditioning regimen with the infamous Victor Conte. Conte who made headlines a few years back for his involvement with steroids and BALCO has cleaned up his act and devoted his knowledge and expertise to continue helping elite level athletes obtain the best possible scientific methods to use in their training.
Attached below are the official records of Donaire's before and after tests as released exclusively to this scribe by Team Donaire and Victor Conte.
Conte explained, Donaire was initially low on his magnesium and zinc when he first checked in the lab which they corrected through supplements. Conte also monitored Donaire's LDH levels which indicates whether an athlete is overtrained. Real scientific stuff! (Listen to my interview with Conte below and hear it straight from the expert himself). In layman's terms, Conte said, "My overall assessment is, Nonito looks great! He really does and I'm excited to see him perform tomorrow night."
A move up in weight is definitely the next course of action for Donaire as his body naturally is getting bigger as he climbs up in age, but in terms of his conditioning, the consummate pro had no issues whatsoever in making weight and will be fighting at probably the best shape he's ever been in his entire career.

I hope after the fight no ifs and donts will ever be heard again...
Why did Donaire work with Conte, the same man who had been bashing Pacquiao for being a suspected PED user? Why side with somebody who badmouths your so-called inspiration? I just hope that Donaire loses tomorrow so that Conte's snake oil salesmanship is exposed for all the world to see.

This is a no-brainer. Donaire wins this fight hands down. Only way for Marquez to win is to chop off 1 hand from Donaire. Or maybe bite it off.
