Freddie Roach is a man who can come up with a game plan to beat just about any fighter, and came the closest to beating Floyd Mayweather when he worked with Oscar De La Hoya.
As it turned out that night Oscar didn't quite have enough, but Roach was firmly established as the man you should go to if you are facing the sometimes acerbic all time great.
Roach's latest charge, Manny Pacquiao is another fighter who would love to take a crack at the thus far unbeaten Mayweather, but thinks he has the right formula for beating Floyd already.
Speaking to the ManillaBulletin Pacquiao gave his prediction for the upcoming Mayweather vs. Mosley fight:
“I pick Mosley to win that fight because he can throw a lot of punches compared to Mayweather who’s a very defensive boxer. Defense can’t win fights, especially against a fighter like Mosley who relies on speed,”
A fighter who throws a lot of shots and relies on speed to overwhelm his opponents? Sounds oddly familiar, in fact I remember seeing a fighter who fits just that description hand out a brutal drubbing to Joshua Clottey only a couple of weeks back.
As to whether volume alone is enough to beat Mayweather, I have my doubts, but with the planning of Freddie roach on side, Manny has a much better chance than most of pulling off what 40 others have so far failed to do.

The problem with using volume alone is that there is a big risk of being counter punched by someone like Floyd. Clottey took everything Pacquiao threw on his gloves, and needed to drop his defensive shield every time he wanted to load up for a shot. This not only often gave him away, but it limited his movement as well.
A more fluid defense like Mayweather's will allow him to avoid rather than block more punches, allowing him to pick shots and move around better. Pacquiao has the speed to catch him, but has always been rather easy to hit when he isn't overwhelming his opponents with punches. What Floyd makes of being swarmed by someone who can keep up with him will be interesting to see if the fight ever happens.
Pacquiao picking Mosley is also no doubt partly intended to rile Mayweather, who has been shall we say less than kind to Pacquiao in the press. For all his mudslinging though I wouldn't doubt that Pacquiao's single comment will annoy and frustrate Mayweather more than all the things Mayweather has come out with about Pacquiao over the last few months.

Jameel Griffin, Pittsburgh PA: "Mayweather is too fast for Pacquiao, he would catch Pacquiao coming in every time and win every round. It wouldn't even be close. Every other fighter he's fought threw more punches and they all lost, that wasn't no coincidence"

I beg to dis-agree with the gentlemen you quoted in your article. Peter McBean and Jameel Griffin pointed Floyd's defense and speed as the catalyst to Pacman's loss if they met in the ring. But Oscar who gave Floyd the scare of his life was beaten and reduce to a pathetic quitter. Cotto and Clottey now understand why Oscar had to quit. Pacman's speed on his feet and hands ,his undetectable switching of angles are what will make Floyd confuse. There are no other fighters Floyd faced from the past come close to what Pacman delivered inside the ring.

Your stupid analysis trying to compare Mayweather's defenses with Clottey is a testament of undermining Manny's ability to carry on his offense. Money's shoulder roll defense is easy for Manny to penetrate than that of Clottey's turtle shell defense. In fact, Manny might end up dislocate Mayweather's shoulder with that kind of sheer volume of punches and force behind it. Once Mayweather got tag with a good hook he will easily be out of rhythm just like the other Pacquioao's victim.
Pacman is a lot smarter than Hatton in the ring as evidenced by their last fight. Pac overwhelms punches but they are more accurate and solid. Pac can throw barages of punches and half of them will land. Floyd will counter but it will leave him open when he does. That is the beauty in boxing. Agressiveness with the right timing and precision can knock people out. Floyd wont know what hit him for Pacman is deadly with both hands.
Floyd couldn't even knockout the bloated marquez. Pacman will overwhelm floyd with so many punches in defferent angles until floyd will hit the canvas.Once floyd taste the power of pacman. am pretty sure he will be running around like a scared chicken.

The only way to defeat mayweather is to frustrate him. His fight is to let his opponent run after him and counter punch him when his opponent think mayweather is running. One strategy to defeat him is to let him run after you and use movement to avoid his punch. if he won't run after you go to the corner and wait for him until referee warn you both to engage. Once mayweather frustrated he will play out of his mind and thats the time you can knock him out.

Mayweather-Pacquiao is a must for the sake of boxing. The only unknown are how each one will react to each other. Pacquiao is a whirlwind, with speed and power coming from all angles. Mayweather is a defensive gem, who hits with pinpoint accuracy. If he can fight his fight, then it will be an easy night. But can he KO Pacquiao? I doubt it, judging by the Marquez fight. With Pacquiao's usual work rate, the odds that some of those 1,000 punches would get in are just too scary. If Floyd chicken's out with the first power punch that gets through, he'll be gone in 5. Or we could be in for a long night of runnning and grabbing. In which case, it will be a shut out. The crowd will roar with anything Pacquiao throws whether it lands or not. Judges will have no choice but to give a 10-9 round to Pacquiao. It's easier to go with Pacquiao in this one. Floyd's defense may not be enough to hold off Pacquiao.
