Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao will eventually end up in the ring. This writer just can't imagine anyone walking away from up to and possibly more than 20 million dollars. Floyd Mayweather claims that he's the pound for pound king. Most beg to differ and say that the real pound for pound king is Manny Pacquiao. If Floyd wants this title back, he's going to have to fight for it. Beyond the title of pound for pound king, there is a huge amount of money in this fight. Mayweather knows this and eventually he will agree to a purse amount.
A 45/45 split with the winner getting the remaining 10 percent seems to be the most logical idea thus far. Both guys save face by equal purse, and the remaining 10 percent goes to the best man that night. You only get so many chances at these kind's of huge payday's. All parties on both sides will sooner or later realize this and the fight will and must go on.
It's being reported the New York's Yankee Stadium has been talked about as a possible venue for this fight. If these reports are true, it sets up one of the biggest fights in boxing's history in the world's largest market. This all equals vast amounts money to be made by both men. How in the world can either of these two prize fighters walk away from this?
Sure everybody on both sides of the fence are digging their heels in the sand right now. Both sides want this to make sense dollar wise, and both sides have their pride. But at the end of the day, can anyone honestly say that their pride will deep six a 20 million dollar payday?

But seriously, I doubt if this fight will happen soon as we
expect.
Everyone's forgetting that Manny is running for a congressional
seat, and it's his obsession to be a congressman. The campaign
season starts February for the May 2010 elections, and should
he win he must attend sessions soon after. I don't see a scenario
here where he can train properly.

Pacquaio is not a welterweight, period. He just did it for the people & for the record.
Mayweather should fight boxers of his real weight division & not try to fight smaller boxers if he is truly a real fighter... Real fighter is to fight & not just to win by elluding & running. Boxing should be Toe to toe & try to knock each other out. That's why it is call fighter...
I think Mayweather should fight Paul Williams, Margarito or Pavlik first. Prove to fight bigger fighters...

I think that "Money" will not agree with this 45/45 split giving 10% to the winner... Why??? Simply because he knows deep inside that the Pacman will whoop his a%# if they ever get in there.
45-45 makes sense, the winner gets the remaining 10. Assuming both will get $ 20 M each,..or even $ 30 m each,...I'm sure egos and or pride will be the hindrance to make this fight just a dream.
But if it does happen,...and Mayweather Jr losses,... its like Manny Pacquiao defeating Floyd and Marquez at the same time and he (Pacquiao) can retire for good.
I believe Roach is right though...if this fight happens, it might be the biggest PPV but may not be as exciting as other Pacquiao fights...Mayweather Jr's style is defense (and RUN) which make many fans sleep...hahaha..(sorry Floyd!)

Wow, the fight is on a little while but perhaps a couple of weeks. They're still negotation of purse split as well the size of ring. Manny insist if possible a 10x10 size of ring but Fraudweather it is better a 30x30 size of ring so that his Rollsroyce car have enough space to run. Lets wait hows the negotation goin on.

Floyd Mayweather doesn't deserve an equal share when it comes to the pay-per-view (PPV) and revenue split..Manny Pacquiao does not need Mayweather at this moment but Mayweather needed Pacquiao most to prove that he is the best boxer in the world..but for me,i don't consider Mayweather as the P4P king once and for all..he does not deserve even in the top 10 P4P king list today..he should accept the offer of team Pacquiao immediately in favor for them to seal the deal and to prove himself that he wants to fight with Manny pacquiao inside the ring..i want to see this guy after the fight with Pacquiao on how he looks and if he deserves to called as "pretty boy".

I have this strange feeling that Mayweather is trying to out-split Manny so that he can do his fancy trick of overweighting during the weigh-in and never minding the vast amount of CASH he will lose from his "lion's share" for the excess baggage he weights! I think Pacquiao should fight 1.Foreman (newly-crowned middleweight champ)at a catchweight of 148-150lbs for his 8th division world title or 2. challenge the winner of the Mosley-Berto WBA-WBC Welterweight Unification Fight this Jan 2010. Option 1, will have little risk for PACMAN and another historic breakthrough to gain. Option 2, will make PACMAN the welter unification champ (i.e, WBO-WBC-WBA Welter Champ + Ring Magazine's Welterweight Linear Champ). That would exactly give PACMAN 11 world titles in all beating topnotcher De La Hoya whose got 10! It will make PACMAN: "The greatest boxer of all time." Besides the money factor, fighting Mayweather won't make history. PBF Mayweather has no championship belt to offer, just trash talk. So let PACMAN go for the Guinness Book of World Records, fight Foreman or winner of Mosley-Berto next!!! PACMAN will be remembered by his HISTORIC ACHIEVEMENTS and not by MONEY!!!

brad you must realize pacman & floyd are not of the same level. pacman brings the ibo 140lb belt, wbo 147lb belt wbc diamond belt, ring mag p4p title, prestige etc, on the table, while floyd has none. so it's unfair for the initial purse to be equal. it is unfair to reward an a#*hole with some equality with pacman who put his life on the line to earn his belts, titles and recognition. it is unfair for this fight to push through at the expense of pacman's stature just so we can have the bout we crave for.
