Philadelphia Green Fest
This Sunday, September 13th, from 11am to 6pm between 2nd and South Streets, will be a huge festival with a unique purpose. The “GreenFest” Philly has been consistently Philadelphia’s largest environmentally concerned event, boasting over 200 exhibitors and 25,000 people attended just last year.
This annual September event features many eco friendly events such as sneaker recycling, live music and entertainment, a variety of kids activities, bicycle valet, yoga, various “green” contests, composting and recycling, “Eco Exchange Fashion Show & Clothing Swap”, the Food Symposium and The Green Film Festival.
The 2009 theme of The Philly Green Fest is all about sustainable FOOD. Everything from organic to purchasing locally grown, to vegan, vegetarian or omnivorous diet will be discussed. This year’s emphasis is education and information about the importance of supporting our local farmers and vendors and conscious decisions at the grocery store.
Taste an assortment of the eco-friendly foods, learn about the impact our food choices have on the environment, and find out how easy it is for you to grow your own food no matter where you live.

I know I am supposed to be objective, but honestly, I am psyched for this! I missed it last year and really regretted it. Not going to make that mistake twice :)
