This past week celebrates Philadelphia’s Greek Week. Over the course of this annual celebration, various get-togethers, events, and programs were conducted by members of the “Divine Nine” all around the city of brotherly love.
Greek Week will culminate this Saturday, July 11th, 2009, with the 35th annual Philadelphia Greek Picnic. The Philadelphia Greek Picnic is the one of the Nation’s oldest reunions for the members of the National Pan-Hellenic Council as well as for the family, friends, and people who supported them over the years.
This year’s Picnic will be held at and Chamounix Park (Chamounix & Greenland Drive) from 12noon-5pm. The Greek Picnic will feature vendors selling various Greek paraphernalia, whether handmade crafts inspired by the sororities and fraternities, or license and registered merchandise. There will also be a step competition, where members of the organizations recognized and celebrated will show their pride through dance, rhythm and song.
Following the Reunion Cookout, the party will move to the Legendary Blue Horizon night lounge where official 2009 Philadelphia Greek Step Show will commence.
