Tonight I'm attending an ugly Christmas sweater party. It really has me thinking that this kind of party has a lot of benefits. It's a fun way to get all of your friends together and it doesn't take much planning or money. You can borrow the sweater (thanks Mom!) from one of your relatives, or, check out the local thrift stores, especially the thrift stores sponsored by senior groups. For sure you can find one on Ebay. In fact, you can find thousands on Ebay. There are sweaters that light up and sweaters that sing!
The obvious benefit is that this would be a fantastic and instant ice-breaker. I'll be back soon with photos from tonight's party.

Ice breaker: years ago our host placed a name tag on our backs-the name of a famous person. The only rule was you could only ask yes or no questions. It really got strangers to become friendly to each other.
I love this idea! I'm looking forward to your photos and report on the party.
Great idea! Sounds like fun.
Deb, your ideas are the most fun! Happiness/ R
I actually like the sweater pictured! I do not think it is ugly at all!
This one is a winner! Can't wait to see your pics.
Debbie, the sweater you show is a riot! You are so funny....
Perhaps the "ugly Christmas sweater party" idea will finally abolish the unflattering trend during the holidays!
Deb, I linked to this in my newest Tiger Woods piece -- for those sick of the Tiger Woods mess!
How was the party????? This is certainly less fattening than a cookie exchange. :)
You are so much fun! I collect my holiday sweaters and vests from upscale thrift shops and folks think I've spent a fortune. If I ever decide to have another holiday bash, I'll snitch this great idea and go in search of funky holiday threads.
