Poll shows majority of Americans support govt-backed health care

 Health Care reform looms?

According to a survey conducted by the New York Times and CBS News, the AFP reports that a good 72 percent of Americans surveyed are not only "in favor of substantial changes to the country's health care system (to include a government-run health insurance option), but are also willing to pay higher taxes so everyone could have health insurance."

As President Obama urged Congress on Saturday in his weekly radio address to move forward with health care reforms, the so-called Blue-Dog Democrats need to be increasingly aware that the seats they seek to protect by continually serving as lackeys to the GOP who have absolutely no desire to see this President do anything meaningful for this country (all to further their own selfish ambitions), may actually become vulnerable as the American people become more enlightened to the realization that the GOP and its political and other lackeys are engaging in obfuscated chattercrawl when it comes to the meat and potatoes of health care reform. Here is more information below on the Poll results:

"A whopping 85 percent of respondents said the health care system needed to be fundamentally changed or completely rebuilt, according to the poll.

In addition, the survey found that 72 percent of those questioned supported a government-administered insurance plan -- something like Medicare for those under 65 -- that would compete for customers with private insurers.

Twenty percent said they were opposed.

When asked which party was more likely to improve health care, 18 percent of respondents said the Republicans while 57 percent picked the Democrats. Even one of four Republicans said the Democrats would do better.

However, half of those who identified themselves as Republicans said they would support a public plan, along with nearly three-fourths of independents and almost nine in 10 Democrats, according to the poll.

President Barack Obama wants Congress to approve his health care reform proposals by the end of the year in order to fulfill one of his key campaign promises -- providing health care to the 46 million Americans, some 15 percent of the population, who currently do not have any medical coverage.

Obama's health care plan includes a government insurance option, which has been fiercely criticized by Republicans.

At the same time, the survey found that 77 percent of Americans were very or somewhat satisfied with the quality of their own health care, a factor that is being exploited by opponents of the president's proposal.

The poll of 895 adults was conducted from June 12 to 16 and had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus three percentage points."

I don't support any Obama health care because he's not president of me! No birth certificate, no president! Hopefully the real Americans in congress can stop him until he's dethroened or replaced by Sarah Palin in 2012

I couldn't "agree more" with the latter part of your disjointed hubris. Of course who better to "dethroened" (to quote you) an "untrue" American president (duly elected I might add by almost two thirds of real Americans I presume) than a secessionist sympathizer (she even married and has five kids for a secessionist party member) and "true patriot" like the gun-totting hockey mom.

Why even bother responding to the idiot bobcr. He was obviously Sarah Palin's classmate at all the five schools she went to before finally getting her Journalism degree by correspondence.

Back to the health care issue, I think the president needs to take greater control of the plan rather than leaving it to the dems in congress. I just don't trust them and he shouldn't either, the blue-dog chihuahuas especially.

made me laugh, like CBS and NYT are not cheerleaders for Obama??? If one looks at a truly non-bias poll, such as www.ebri.org/pdf/briefspdf/EBRI_IB_7-2009_HCS_091.pdf

More importantly to date, the Dems have done nothing but write crappy bills.

and your ebri crap is quite non-bias I would imagine? If the dems have written crappy bills to date, what exactly have the Republicans been doing? Oh, I forgot, busy chasing little boys and other peoples wives.

Only God knows exactly what it is the GOP wants. They can't do a damn thing anf won't let someone else do anything either. Goodness, may God help us all!

I'm a little concerned about your sources. Some time has passed now, and I don't think the current polls support your contention. I'm also a little concerned about the ability of some of your bloggers' ability to spell or write cohesive thoughts, sort of like weeds someone planted in the garden.
