Often it has been said that all politics are local; and that is certainly where much of it gets its start. Rick Jeffares got his start growing up in the Henry County, part of the 17th District, which he now wants to represent as a Georgia Senator.
Living in Locust Grove in Henry County just south of Atlanta (where the state capitol is located), Rick has devoted much of his life to the area in which he was born. He knows Henry County, and her people. As well, he knows those in the 17th District; which includes all of Newton County, portions of Henry, Rockdale, Walton, and Spalding.
"The Georgia Senate is the Upper House in the Georgia Assembly, comprised of 56 members. The Senate, together with the State House of Representatives, constitutes the legislature. The duties of the legislature include consideration of proposed laws and resolutions, consideration of proposed constitutional amendments for submission to the voters, and appropriation of all funds for the operation of state government." Rick tells that at an early age he learned the importance of family, hard work and always doing the right thing - and doing things right. These are the core values he promises to take to Atlanta with him to serve the people of the 17th and Georgia.
It was also once said, "No man is an island, and no man stands alone." And working in the Senate of a big state like Georgia, no senator works alone - but as part of a governing body of both Democrats and Republicans making decisions that will affect counties including those in the 17th District listed above; and all of Georgia's 159 counties.
Being a hometown boy, Rick believes he knows the people of Henry. He listens and knows what their concerns are because as a family man and business man, they are his concerns as well. He promises to work hard every day to bring about a conservative government that the 17th District wants for their families.
Rick was elected to the Henry County Board of Commissioners, District 2 in 2008. He ran in order to give back to his hometown county of Henry, bringing needed conservative leadership to the 2nd District.
Bills and legislature are not passed by one person. The job of State Senator requires experience not only in politics, business, and governing; but reliance on life skills learned through personal knowledge, personal experience, personal practice, and personal understanding.
Rick is a small business owner, husband, proud father, and grandfather. He understands what is of utmost importance to families and communities. The same things he wants for his family, he wants for yours.
Rick wants to serve this state by working to achieve the best for his county and state through his conservative home grown values. Rick has the endorsement of the Georgia Right to Life.
Rick is the owner of a successful small business, J&T Environmental Services, and works to preserve and protect water quality in communities across Georgia. J&T provides operations and management of water and wastewater treatment plants, water distribution and collection systems. As a small business owner, Rick knows what it means to balance a budget, manage payroll and make tough, real-world decisions.
Rick is the former City Manager of Locust Grove, Director of Water and Wastewater Treatment for the City of Covington, Director of Water and Water Pollution Control for the City of McDonough, and also worked for the Henry County Water and Sewage Authority.
Growing up in Henry County, Rick attended McDonough Christian Academy and graduated from Henry County High School in 1982, where he played baseball and was a member of FFA.
He volunteers with Water Missions International, helping to provide relief in such areas as Sri Lanka following the devastating tsunami and in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Rick has also organized three golf tournaments for Haven House to raise money to assist victims of domestic violence.
Rick pledges his hard work for the 17th District in exchange for their vote in the Republican primary on Tuesday, July 20th
Rick is a graduate of Clayton College and State University where he earned a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Technology Management. He and his wife, Leslie, live in Henry County. He has four daughters and one grandchild. He attends Sharon Baptist Church.

Thank you for your comment Lisa. He seems to be the kind of man we want in public office; one who care about the citizens and not his own personal agenda. Hope he wins.
family man...right...too bad we lost a lot of land because of him wanting to sell it all..
