Thanksgiving and Christmas are a time for celebration, but they are also a time to remember those less fortunate than us.
In her November 2, 2009 article, “Food and Clothing Drives in and Around Portland” Kimberly Sharpe offers some great suggestions for reaching out to those around us, and sharing the true reason for the season.
In her words:
“With the arrival of the holidays its time to start thinking about the many people who are less fortunate. There are many places that offer clothing, food, and toy drives in the Portland Oregon area. These charities also accept donations. Here is a list of where you can help and the things they need for the upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas season.”
Sharpe goes on to list a number of humanitarian organizations in and around Portland that need our help, now more than ever, including Oregon Food Bank, Thanksgiving Day Give & Gobble, Goodwill, The Salvation Army, and many others.
