While it's best to take in fashion inspiration live through fashion shows and people watching, sometimes you want a taste of what's going on in the rest of the world. This is why I subscribe to as many fashion magazines as I can.
If you are currently not a magazine subscriber, I suggest you partake in this fashion indulgence. You may not want to go overboard as I do, snatching up every periodical available in the U.S., but you will want to start somewhere. Where, you ask?
Although they refer to Vogue as the fashion bible, I think this is too large a chunk to bite off for a fashion magazine newbie. Have you ever seen the September issue of Vogue? There's a whole documentary dedicated to it, and with good reason. The issue is nearly, if not exceeding, one thousand pages chock full of every look to emulate, designer to be obsessed with and trend to follow. The month of September holds a special place in my heart due to the fact that this is the month magazines put out their biggest issues, Vogue not excluded.
However, before you dive into the fashion frenzy and become slightly fanatical like myself, start local with Kansas City's Faction Magazine, a fashion print project created by KC Wearhaus. They are hosting their Volume 3 release party this Wednesday, June 23rd from 5-10 p.m. at The Farmhouse located in City Market. This event is free and open to the public, where you can have the chance to see magazine style inspiration come to life.
Whether it's online, in print or walking right beside you, fashion trends and individual style equal fun no matter how you look at it. Dive into exploring more of the fashion world and see how it may inspire you and your wardrobe.
