Tousled hair trend back in Hollywood and 3 steps to get the look

Although it is not really new, the tousled tresses look is so in today.  Charles Baker Strahan, celebrity hairstylist, says everyone in Hollywood wants (or is already wearing) it.  This "uptake of beachy hair", says Strahan in an interview with Sarah Bernard, is a mixture of different textures - straight, wavy and curly.  The so-called "perfectly imperfect" look does appear disheveled but it is clean, soft and manageable in the best possible way.  His client, Leighton Meester of Gossip Girl, is sporting this hair trend as well as other stars like Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Aniston and Kate Hudson, to name a few.

You do not always want to pull your hair back and flat like a ballerina.  But you also do not want to let it hang like a dirty mop.  What you do want is to let your tresses loose . . . with style, that is!  Since life in big districts like Hollywood is fast-paced, the tousled or out-of-the-bed look may cope up with the hectic lifestyle.  Plus, it is not really costly to get yourself updated.

Here are the basic steps to remind you...

  1. Shampoo and condition your hair.  A clean hair is always the best base for any hair styling.
  2. During blow dry, with your head upside-down, scrunch your locks to preserve your natural waves or curls.  For straight hair, use a curling iron at a low level.
  3. Apply mousse, cream or gel to set the tousled look.  Scrunch your hair more to keep the waves.

There are a lot of hair products that can help you achieve this "mane attraction".  I am sure some of you are loyal to your particular brand.  But if you want something new, try the new Tousle Me Softly collection by Herbal Essences.
