This Saturday July 18 from 12-5pm, Fashion Fights Poverty and Current Boutique are putting on an exciting new event in Washington, DC at the Mayflower Hotel. In addition to doing some good, it will be a fun place for budget fashionistas to update their wardrobes.
Fashion Fights Poverty (FFP) is an organization "driven by two principles: (1) design can change the world and (2) changing the world is everyone's responsibility." FFP is dedicated to raising awareness of creative initiatives for fighting poverty in style. This Saturday you can help their initiatives by attending their fashion swap, where you will be able to consign pieces from your closet, update your wardrobe by swapping with fellow guests and donating items to Covenant House Washington, an organization that provides shelter and protection, food, clothing and job training to DC youth. Current Boutique will be there to consign your quality items. There will also be hair styling presentations by PR at Partners.
For entry into the event, all guests must bring at least one article of clothing, accessories or shoes. The swap begins with attendees leaving their unwanted items on tables categorized by size or accessory type. You can choose whether you want to consign, trade or donate your items. Guests can then dive in and find "new to you" pieces in the pile!
What an amazing opportunity to contribute to your community while getting an amazing deal (basically free! - in exchange for your own pieces)!
