H&M threw a launch party, December 1st in Paris, for their newest partner Sonia Rykiel. Over 2,000 guests were invited to the Grand Palais in Paris to celebrate the collaboration, complete with a ferris wheel, a goose parade, candy floss stands and majorettes from Croatia!
Guests including Kate Bosworth, Jean Paul Gaultier, Eva Herzigova, Lily Cole, and Loulou de la Falaise were seated under a specially made Eiffel Tower that was almost 11-stories high! They were given a carnival style glimpse of Sonia Rykiel for H&M lingerie and knitwear.
Completing the carnival feel the Sonia Rykiel models were even swinging from a ferris wheel and dancing on parade floats.
The Sonia Rykiel line will be in 1,500 H&M stores worldwide on Saturday (December 5, 2009), as well as a first glimpse of the knitwear collection for women and girls, which is due to launch in February. This will be the first time that H&M has collaborated with a lingerie designer. Sonia Rykiel will make this lingerie collection and related accessories for women, with exclusive pieces available in Sonia Rykiel’s major boutiques around the world, which is another another big step for H&M.
Photographer of the event, Ellen von Unwerth, was very excited about the lingerie collection. “I’m sure we will be fighting over the bras Saturday,” she said.
