On December 7th and 8th there will be an auction of 30 collectible clothing designs of actress and humanitarian Audrey Hepburn.
The location for the auction is in London at La Galleria, Royal Opera Arcade on Pall Mall. Prior to the auction the items will be displayed at the same venue.
In addition to the clothing there will be accessory items and personal letters. There are sure to be designs from both Valentino and Givenchy.
One piece comes with a grand story. Upon cancelling her wedding to James Henson, Audrey Hepburn gave her gown away. Her instructions were to " find the most beautiful poor italian girl-someone who could never afford a dress like mine ". Amabile Altobella was the recipient of the gown and she did wear it. It was in her family until 2002 when the dress designers came forward.
The auction will donate 50% to The Audrey Hepburn Childrens Fund and Unicef. It is expected the auction will bring in excess of $100,000 in British pounds.
