South Coast Plaza
There are malls, and then there is South Coast Plaza, the shopping center to which all others pale in comparison. Some have dubbed South Coast Plaza a "shopping resort," a title of which it is undoubtedly worthy; with its immaculate design, wall-to-wall couture, and impeccable service, the shopping here is an experience like no other.
South Coast Plaza was nice enough to recently put on a fabulous bloggers event, which I was lucky enough to attend. Our day started with appetizers at the amazing Marche Moderne restaurant in the Penthouse, and finished with a decadent array of small plates and drinks at the equally delicious Charlie Palmer.
In between meals, pampering, and drooling over couture, I managed to learn a few new things about my favorite shopping center:
1. South Coast Plaza’s Nordstrom has a beautiful spa located on the fourth floor. (Yes, it is every bit as chic as you’re imagining.) Offering every spa service you can think of (including the hottest new and hard-to-find nail trend, Minx), Spa Nordstrom is the perfect compliment to a day of shopping and fine dining at South Coast Plaza. Go ahead and treat yourself next time you stop by- shopping can be exhausting! Call (714) 850-2570 to schedule your appointments.
2. Unlike a lot of shopping centers, South Coast Plaza is privately owned. This means that shoppers will not only experience the highest standards of cleanliness and service, but also the best array of shops and designers, all under one roof.
3. Speaking of the best, South Coast Plaza houses them. All of them. Burberry, Valentino, Christian Dior, Christian Louboutin, Yves Saint Laurent, CH Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta, Balenciaga, Chloe, Chanel, Escada, Gucci, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Versace, Jimmy Choo and Tory Burch are among the many stores that call this shopping center home. This fall will see Prada and Miu Miu (my personal favorite) added to South Coast Plaza’s already impressive store directory.
4. Space NK Apothecary is my new favorite makeup stop. Located in the biggest and most stunning Bloomingdale’s I’ve ever set eyes on, Space NK Apothecary carries all the best lines, including Nars and Lipstick Queen, with a knowledgeable and friendly staff to help you to navigate the fabulousness and find exactly what you need.
5. The food is exquisite. Even if you aren’t that into shopping (if this is the case, email me and we’ll sort that out), the dining alone is worth the trip. South Coast Plaza boasts dozens of restaurants and cafes for every palate, budget and craving.
6. It’s closer than you think. Although San Diego’s Fashion Valley Mall is so close, so fabulous and so tempting, shopping the same stores week after week can become redundant, tiresome and really put you in a fashion rut after awhile. South Coast Plaza is only a short drive away (under an hour from North County) and well worth the drive. So mix it up a little and see what South Coast Plaza has to offer, I promise you won’t be disappointed!
