Oakland fashion style can be described as eclectic – take some boho, add a touch of ethnic, and accessorize with vintage. To help create this unique Oakland look is the ever-popular Vintage Fashion Expo, September 19 and 20, at the Concourse Exhibition Center in San Francisco.
Oakland designer and seamstress, Deborah Starks knows the score. She is one of the regular dealers at Vintage Fashion Expo and is known for her exquisitely decorated booths and her collection of vintage 1920s and ethnic clothing. “The Vintage Fashion Expo is the best place to shop,” says Ms. Starks, “because it offers such a variety and wealth of vintage that can be mixed and matched and used to create an unusual look.”
Now in its third decade, Vintage Fashion Expo is back again at the Concourse allowing more space for more vendors and more goodies for men and women. Approximately one hundred dealers come from around the country offering vintage clothing and accessories from the 1900s to the 1980s.
Among vintage must-haves for fall are:
• big jewelry (yes, still in)
• camel hair coats
• pencil skirts
• gloves
• hats, hats and more hats, for men too!
• padded-shoulder jackets
• cardigan sweaters
"We're all looking for enduring quality and terrific value these days without sacrificing great style," says show producer, Lis Normoyle, "The Vintage Fashion Expo has all three - quality, style, value."
Vintage Fashion Expo, September 19 and 20, Saturday, 10:30-6:00, Sunday, 11:00-5:00, Concourse Exhibition Center, 635 8th Street, SF, $10, go to the website for a $2 off coupon: http://www.vintageexpo.com/

Wonderful expositions an antique clothing collector's delight! I have been going to these expos since 1989. A fantastic variety and array of good deals and art to wear.
Good piece, Moya. I REALLY would love to go but that would be TOO dangerous because I can't afford to buy all the I would want to buy. I will just look at the photo and drool.
