Is there a double standard when it comes to lingerie ads? So says Lane Bryant. According to the plus size fashion company, both Fox and ABC refused to air new Lane Bryant ads feauturing plus size models in their new Cacique lingerie line, deeming the ads too racy.
Lane Bryant posted a blog (which has since been removed) blasting both ABC and FOX for refusing to air the ads and claiming restricted airtime by ABC and excessive re-edits by FOX. The company continued its network double standard blast with references to ABC's scantily clad desperate housewives and FOX's Bart Simpson's butt, stating, "... and don’t forget Bart Simpson, who has shown us the moon more often than NASA ... "
Lane Bryant also asserted that it was being treated differently from Victoria's Secret, which has aired ads on both networks.
Network executivies have denied any double standard or bias against Lane Bryant and FOX counters that Lane Bryant's refusal to modify the ads to comply with standard practices caused the delay. The alleged banned ad will now air on FOX on April 28th during the 9.p.m. hour of American Idol.

I just the saw the so-called racy ad by Lane Bryant. I have seen many a set of cleavage and thigh and abs on the many ads previously aired starring Victoria Secret models and starlets on various shows. I don't see how this ad is any racier than those. Yes more skin is shown because this woman happens to have curves. The men I know love curves and the woman in the ad is absolutely beautiful. I think they are many men who would love this ad and #1 want to date this woman or #2 try to find out where to get this lingerie to put on their own curvy women. There is definitely a double standard at play here. TV should take a cue from Glamour Magazine which has also recently started featuring plus size models in its pages. Women should be celebrated in the myriad colors and shapes we come in.

this was not racy at all Fox and abc need to be ashamed of themselves. we seen the same ads from VS but they show alot more.
Humm, fox should change its name to unfoxed and abc should be nabc Nazi american bully channel. this add is very tasteful. also this is discrimination against woman with real curves.
Lane Bryant model Ashley Graham is gorgeous! The 20 second Lane Bryant ad is not offensive or sexual at all, unlike the never banned 2 minute VS ad showing the super skinny model in 4 or 5 bra and panty sets,including a sheer pair of panties, a pair of panties that she pulls down on. Ashley Graham is beautiful and represents real woman of today and woman of yesterday such as Marilyn Monroe and Rita Hayworth. Thank you Lane Bryant and Ashley Graham.
