The first decade of the millenium - What is the defining fashion trend?

Sorry for the short gap in articles. For the last few weeks and through the last few states I have been on the search for the general consensus of what society thinks the defining trend for the first decade of the millennium has been. The stipulations were no copying anything that had been done in the past.

For example, a common initial answer was skinny jeans, wide framed black eyeglasses, and plaid shirts. HOWEVER, skinny jeans were done in the 80's, wide rimmed glasses were late 80's and plaid was so 90's grundge. So what is the defining trend of the millennium thus far. . Well, perhaps it is better defined as a rebirth of the last century.

Throughout the last ten years there has been times of almost every defining fashion decade in the last century. Vintage 1920's based style, the influence of the Audrey Hepburn's wonderful Breakfast at Tiffany's sunglasses, the full bodied swing dance skirts and blouses of the 50's, the flaired leg, tye die colors, and braids of the 60's, frock tops and low rise jeans of the 70's, the neon, skinny legs, and acid washes of the 80's, and grunge influence of none other than Mr. Kurt Cobain of the 90's.

The "2000's" were a time of reinvention and a combination of new and old. Taking the greatest fashion trends of the past, and creating a "new" old. What will the next ten years bring? What is your take on the greatest trend of the first ten years of the millenium? As they say... "history repeats itself".
