On Wednesday night at Whiskey Blue on the rooftop of the W Hotel Buckhead, Shari Gray unveiled her latest Shree Moni shoe collection titled “Spring in Paris.” Gray who is only 26 years old is quickly rising to new heights as one of the hippest shoe designers in Atlanta.

The collection features shoes inspired by Paris with names like The Louvre, Versailles and the Mona Lisa.

“The shoes look like works of art,” Gray says describing the heels. “I’ve always loved apparel and I love challenges. Creating a shoe is a challenge so it was perfect for me.”

The stylish shoes come in purple, mustard, black, copper and more. The heels are not your run of the mill stiletto. The funky gladiator style straps and embellishments create a trendy effect. The line includes boots, heels, and espadrille platforms. Each shoe can be worn with a pair of jeans or mini dress. The look  also lends itself to spicing up a classic dress giving the collection versatility.

It is no wonder you can find them on the feet of popular R&B singers and well known sophisticates. En Vogue recently wore the shoes on The View, Keri Hilson is a fan and Judge Hatchett is a loyal Shree Moni wearer. What makes these shoes different is the person who created them. Though inspired by the Parisian culture and monuments, Gray didn’t look far her initial spark.

“The shoes are a lot like me. They have a lot of personality and are fun fashionable,” Gray says. “There is also a lot of color. I’m not afraid of color because color is important.”

Gray created the line of shoes in 2007. Since then, the collection has been picked up by  Pieces in Brooklyn, Ny., Seven in Atlanta, and City Soles in Chicago. As a result the collection has become a boutique specialty brand. Gray decided to host her first launch party in 2009 because she feels her product is finally where it needs to be in regards to craftsmanship and marketing.
“I am doing my very first launch now because a lot of tweaking has been done with the line,” she says. “I’m from Atlanta so I wanted to do the first launch in Atlanta.”

Gray has worked on presentation and aesthetics developing a shoe that appeals to all styles and ages. Everyone from celebrity stylists, publicist and make-up artists attended the event making it a chic roof top launch. Surrounded by family and close friends it was an unforgettable night as they expressed pride in Gray’s creativity and motivation. At the end of the evening Nicole Garner, CEO of the Garner Circle PR, toasted to fashion, entrepreneurship and seeing your dreams come true.
