It’s that time of year again and Project Runway is looking for new contestants for their 8th Season. This year they will be stopping in Atlanta to give southern designers with flair a chance to show off their skills in front of am audience of millions. Casting Director Alissa Carlton says Atlanta has become a favorite stop for several reasons.
“We can never say 100% where we’ll go from season to season, but Atlanta is the southern hub and it makes it easy for people in the south who don’t live in Atlanta to get there as well.”
Carlton says the casting crew will follow the same guidelines they go by year after year. Hopeful must submit a portfolio of their work and DVD telling the judges about themselves and how they came to love fashion.
“We invite anyone we’re interested in meeting,” Carlton.
Though contestants from Atlanta like Anthony Williams and Michael Knight have outgoing personalities to match their talent, Carlton says the two Atlantans made it far because they are good at what they do.
“It is TV and we are looking for someone with personality, but the show would never cast anyone who can’t sew.” Carlton says. “Primarily they have to have talent first. Anthony Williams got very far because he has talent.”
Carlton is encouraging all designers in the Atlanta metro area and beyond to submit their portfolios and DVD online.
“The deadline is April 22, so they need to get it in there.”
