Looking to update your wardrobe for spring without breaking the bank or looking like a department store drone? Go green in style at Secession Art & Design's opening reception this Friday, April 17th from 6:30-9:30 pm. For this season's reception, artists reinterpreted the green trend, reconstructing and reclaiming materials to revamp your closet, as well as the rest of your home.
Secession features wearable art from ex. Triple Five Soul designer Deborah Brosenne's line Taxi CDC, Sausalito based gr.dano, and handmade retro-style hats by Behida, and many more sustainable local brands. There's even menswear to be had by meduim reality, and a variety of jewelry and accessories, some from Secession's own proprietress' line, Twelve Designs.
If you're looking to dress up your home instead of yourself, check out the fine art and furniture that Secession has to offer. Heather Robinson's Earthly Desires series is one for the fashionphiles with paintings of textiles that will make all the other walls jealous. Sidecar Furniture offers eco-friendly wood working with a modern twist, and Adrift Mobiles are anything but the lulaby-playing plush sort found above most cribs—think of them as earrings for your ceiling.
So stop by this Friday evening for some pre-weekend shopping while the wine flows and the DJ spins. If you can't make it to the reception, the Bernal Heights boutique is also open during business hours as well as by appointment, but you'll have to supply the drinks and DJ yourself. If all else fails, you can catch Secession's scaled down offerings on the road at SF Indie Mart and Chillin' Productions' lounge shopping events around the city. Check back for updates about both of those events as well as more of what San Francisco has to offer the stylish.
