The past couple of weeks marked the debut of emerging fashion designers from Parsons The New School for Design. The 2010 graduating BFA fashion designers presented their thesis collections consisting of six looks to a panel of industry professionals. These collections are a year in the making and are a testament to the demanding standards of Parsons and the continual effort of the emerging designers to lead successful professional careers after graduating.
Each collection emphasizes the specific design aesthetic of the designer. The collections are diverse and illustrate the range of talent that comes out of Parsons each year, from women's ready-to-wear to bridal. Each designer fully produced and conceptualized their collections.
The following are a sample of the 2010 Parsons BFA emerging fashion designers.

The thesis collection presented stands as a statement to advance the relationship between fashion and philanthropy. In an effort to create an in-depth and well researched collection, I chose a charitable organization as a means to advocate for the work of the organization through the creation and showcasing of the collection. The Nothing But Nets Foundation provides insecticide mosquito netting to developing nations throughout the world to decrease the spread of Malaria. I have thoroughly examined the work of the Nothing But Nets Organization and used the prominent elements as inspiration for the garments including the drapery and material of the mosquito netting and the original dress of the native region. These elements can be seen through the silhouette, materials used, and original digital and hand batik prints.
