For aspiring fashion students looking to build their portfolio, a six-week Intro to Fashion Merchandising and Styling course from Sew Be It Girl can help them to cultivate their fashion business skills.
The Toronto sewing studio specializes in lessons in fashion and design that are geared toward teens and tweens.
The Fashion Merchandising segment of the course will teach students everything from the visual and mathematical aspects of merchandising to why certain stores catch the eye of shoppers.
The Styling portion will give participants tips on the preparation of fashion storyboards and the ability to set-up and style their own photo shoots.
With practical information from fashion icon Marlene Shiff, and hands-on experience that includes the designing of the Sew Be It Girl storefront window, local designers in-the-making will be inspired by fashion while they gain the tools necessary to take the Canadian fashion scene by storm.
About the instructor
International designer Marlene Shiff has worked with both local and international fashion icons including Bob Mackie, Holt Renfrew and The Bay. She is also known for styling photo shoots for finalists on Project Runway Canada.
