As the weather gets cooler here on the East Coast, it is time to think of warmer alternatives to our weekend wear. (Goodbye, rompers! See you next year?)
Getting a fall wardrobe together on a budget this year is totally a snap. The key is to find key pieces, or staple items, that you can wear with anything and a few trendy items that can add instant style to your fashion staples.
First, make two lists. One with staple items that will last for a few seasons and the other with some of your favorite fall trends. (If you need some ideas, scroll to the bottom of this article for some sample lists.)
Once you have your lists- hit the mall. You don't need to spend a fortune to stay in fashion. When you shop for staple items, don't buy the first thing you see. Try the item on and then check another store to compare prices.
For example, you are looking for a new basic button down shirt. You see one you love in Store A and it is $50. Try it on and go to the Store B. They might have that same shirt for $25! Comparing items before you buy is a great money saving shopping technique. You will make sure you are getting what you want- at the price you want.
Once you go through your staple item list, start scouting out items on your trendy list. You can compare the items against the staple pieces you have purchased to get an idea of how the look will come together when it is time to wear it. You may want to see if you can wear the trendy piece with multiple looks!
We know what the economy is like right now, but we don't have to sacrifice our style for it. There are ways to get around spending tons of dough to look fabulous- you just have to look!
