Even if your goal is not to master all crops, there are other features in the FarmVille game that probably appeal to you. This article pertains to the variety of rare animals you may see while visiting neighbors crops. You may even have a few of them on your farm!
Some of the animals featured are available for adoption. Farmers get a popup box letting them know a lonley animal has shown up on their farm. They can put it up for adoption through their live feed, and fellow farmers can give them a home. Animals like the Clumsy Reindeer are generally only found during the holiday season.
Other animals are available through FarmVille mystery boxes, which need to be puchased with FarmVille Cash. The boxes are generally available for a week at a time, and once they're gone, you no longer have a chance of finding the animal.
There are baby calves available, which are generally found while harvesting Dairy Barns. There was a Baby Turkey available in November, but if you transformed him, he is now just a Turkey. I left mine as a Baby Turkey because I hate letting it go!

Nice list, only one error. The baby turkey changes into a turkey. The wild turkey is a lighter plumage bird that was adoptable. The baby turkey also was in the holiday gifts along with the lamb. Son and I got some from there.
I have the alien cows (from holiday gifts), all the colors of calves, referee cow, gray horse, penguins, Swan, turtle, brown goose, white kitty, black kitty, gray tabby (holiday gift), pink cow, brown cow, all the chickens and so on. Also you list a few things as FORMERLY available and they are indeed, available now. (Pinto Horse and orange tabby)

I got a white stallion from the valentine edition mystery box. Not the one from the valentines, but the buyable one with farmbucks. I'm wondering if it will "do the same job" as the bull if I put him in the stable.
