The Rosslyn Farmers Market and Lunchtime Concert series begin May 14, bringing flavor and rhythm to the heart of Rosslyn through October 22. Each Thursday, the market will go up at Wilson Blvd. and North Oak St. between 11 and 3. Vendors’ offerings include bread, local fruits and vegetables, herbs, exotic teas, and marinades and sauces.
The concert series features a different group or solo artist from 11:45 to 1:30 each week through September 24, playing adjacent to the sellers.
The market, sponsored by Monday Properties, has been around for years, known formerly as the Rosslyn Farmers and Artists Market. The new incarnation, as the name would suggest, focuses on food—with that bit of music to entertain.
The Rosslyn Business Improvement District (BID), which runs the market, has thrown in new features this year. A weekly Market Contest over at the BID booth awards a $10 gift certificate for one lucky shopper to use at the market the following week. Biodegradable bags will appear this year, and the buzz is that they’re sturdy enough for several reuses but green enough to break down in compost bins and landfills.
The multi-genre lineup of musicians begins with:
5/14 The Grandsons (Roots Rock & Roll)
5/21 Michelle Renee (Classic Country)
5/28 Bobby Thompson Trio (Blues-Rock)
