Bewitched,botherd and bewildered--these are not words usually associated with chili. The average chili consumer buys their chili from the “brick”, the bag or for the true novice, the can. Few dare to concoct their own contrivance and those that do are usually only about the fire, which means that the chili is inedible to anyone without a desire to burn for hours on end with no hope of relief and no sense of taste for days to come. You are probably thinking their name is just an exaggeration, but Chili Addiction is just that, an addiction. You can enjoy 47 chili varieties and Chef Johnny Kovin has over 70 in his repertoire. Can you imagine, 70 recipes and the man is still creating more—Truffle Chili?! Oh, be still the heart of the chili head! The team of Foster and Kovin has won the Malibu Chili Festival twice, the awards proudly displayed, laminated and waving in the cumin-scented breeze. Ever the perfectionist, he even makes his own sausages, making chili-dogs that put Pink’s to shame! Are you salivating yet? You are probably wondering where you go to find this nirvana of chili. Co-Owner Richard Foster hopes to open a Chili House in the near future, but for now these soon-to-be-famous artisans con carne can be found only at the Hollywood Farmers’ Market; so this should be on your Sunday to-do list.
