Waltham farmers' market offers meat, veggies, and live musical performances

For those market goers who desire fresh produce while still clinging to a meat craving, the Waltham farmers’ market this year is proud to introduce fresh pork and chicken from Burnshirt Valley farm. Pasture raised, Burnshirt's  pork is not what you find at the supermarket. Simply put, you get to meet the farmer and know first hand how kindly their animals were raised and how the meat was processed to the highest quality standards.

The Waltham farmers’ market however, is best known for its afternoon concerts and interesting vendors. Bart’s farm stand with its extravagant selection of fruits, vegetables, berries, and melons excels as does the Hanson Farm and Flats Mentor where you will find many new varieties of vegetables and greens. If herbs and potted plants are on your list, be sure to stop by Dick’s Market Garden. Smith’s Country Cheese offers a most unusual variety of specialty items: cheese, eggs, hamburger, and compost.

To spice up your grilling menu, Deborah’s Kitchen offers an assortment of spreadable fruit and relishes sure to please the most discerning taste. Be sure to consult with MsCellaneous Specialty Foods for the salad dressing of choice. A pie by Country Desserts adds the ultimate finish to any meal.

Mamadou Artisan Bakery, Warren Farm’s authentic maple syrup, and Zachary Dean’s coffee will bring the old fashioned breakfast back to life when hosting Sunday morning’s brunch.

Hand blown glass by Josh Hill and prints by Nature Photography offer captivating pieces for your home, office, or someone special.

Ladies, at the end of the day when you realize your old purse is worn and the afternoon heat has left you feeling limp, Hand Sewn Handbags, Donna Dee’s Designs, and Spicee Jewelry have an item or two to make you feel more yourself again. With lotions, soaps, and more, there is plenty to choose from to sooth tired feet.

Early afternoon, just prior to market close, TT Bud’s popcorn snack will be a nice treat as you listen to a quality band of musicians perform their final musical set.

The Waltham farmers’ market runs from late June to early November, every Saturday from 9:30am to 2:30pm at the corner of Main and Moody streets.

Please watch the documentary "Earthlings" (available online) if you are considering the animal flesh at this farmer's market! No animal, no matter how they are "raised", wants to die to please your tastebuds. It's better for the animals, your health, and the environment to go vegan.
Non-humans, like us, feel pain and emotions and have a will to live. Therefore they have the right to not be exploited, made to suffer, and killed for your unnecessary enjoyment.

Or maybe you could make your choices for yourself and respect the rights of the rest of us to make our own without being berated for them.
