The Warsaw, Va. based brothers are new to the world of Farmers’ Markets and are only selling at Del Ray, but are hopeful they will be there all season long with a variety of offerings. The Lee's have been “fishing for more than 40 years,” Clifton Lee said, “and all of the fish is caught locally.”
“Fresh fish is something we always wanted to be able to offer at the market,” said Pat Miller, Del Ray Farmers’ Market Manager. “This unique idea really rounds out what we have to offer. Once you try it, you will be spoiled. It is the freshest fish around.”
Folks are hoping that the brothers’ business catches on at the market. Meg Ryan, frequent market patron and avid cook said she wasn’t familiar with perch and crocker but that was a good thing as it will “force her out of her comfort zone and to try something new.”
“Having the Lee brothers as vendors is very appealing,” Ryan said. “I like the idea of something being caught yesterday and ending up on my table tonight.”
Before she met the Lee brothers, Miller had never before cooked crab meat. “But I purchased some from the Lee brothers, made crab cakes and they were extremely tasty,” Miller said. “Their fish just melts in your mouth.”
