Robert Rodriquez spills the beans

Our friends at Collider recently had the chance to talk to fanboy uber-idol Robert Rodriguez, who, hold onto your seats, talked "Sin City 2," "Machete," and what’s up with the next "Spy Kids" movie.  As to "Spy Kids," Rodriguez tells Collider he’s already turned in the script to the Weinstein Company and it’s a reboot that will be shot in March or April with new kids.  On "Machete", he says he’s “always talked about making him a franchise character. “

As to  “Sin City 2,” Rodriguez reveals:  “there has been a script since 2007″ and it has pre-existing material “with some original stuff added to it to kind of catch yourself up with some characters.”

Rodriguez also said, “I know Frank (Miller) wants to do it I know I wanna do it and its always sort of time permitting kind of thing, but its not like I can tell you definitely we’re starting…its not my next picture…I know that. Doesn’t mean that its not the picture right after because that’s still a possibility.”

As to the “Sin City 2” script, Rodriguez went on:

“Well it’s the one that Frank wrote and we have to look at it now and go is this really the one…I think its built up so much, like are we really going to satisfy everybody with what we have, should we add to it. It’s the thing we’ve always talked about but now two years later going on three we’d probably make some adjustments but nothing that would take a long time.  It’s just a matter of…once we start…we can go into production…we can already start and in pre production for this up to anything we wanted to.”

As to “Machete,” the movie built around the fake trailer in “Grindhouse,” Rodriguez says:

“I’m still turning it out (laughs), their editing right now so I’m writing some score. But it’s going really terrific it looks really great.” 

There have been rumors that “Machete” movies might be called “Machete Kills” and “Machete Kills Again.”  Although Rodriguez didn’t confirm or deny these, he did say:  “They’re fun titles.  I do like ‘Machete in Space’ though.”
