NY family rights activist continues to chalk on courthouse

Family rights activist John Murtari has expanded his public campaign asking Assemblyman Oaks for help.  Not only has he moved his chalk messages from the sidewalk to the wall of the Wayne County Hall of Justice, Murtari's writing is much larger.

Murtari, founder of akidsright.org is best known for having a feeding tube for 123 days during a non-cooperation protest while incarcerated.  He started this campaign in October.  See Activist resumes chalk campaign in Lyons

In November Murtari was arrested and released for writing with chalk on the sidewalk.  See Parents rights activist Murtari imprisoned for chalk protest.

Shortly after he did more chalk writing Murtari was rearrested and imprisoned.  See Parent activist incarcerated, $1k bail for chalk message.  Charges were dropped when Murtari's attorney, Ms. Denise Munson pointed out that writing with chalk didn't meet the criteria for "intent to damage."

Now, it seems, Murtari can continue his campaign of chalk writing without fear of imprisonment.  "I ask security guards for a bucket of water and rag at the end of each week so I can clean off the messages.  They tell me not to worry about it," he said.

Maybe this will encourage more parents to come forward, to add their messages along with Murtari's.  "People worry about getting arrested.  They have obligations, jobs and families they have to take care of.  Having just a few more parents with me would make a huge difference," he said, "but I understand."

Murtari added more writing today, and plans on returning tomorrow at 2 pm.  He says he has plans on expanding the campaign even more by targeting more government buildings.

"People ask me how I can keep doing this. It's pretty easy when you consider the indignity I have been through," Murtari writes on his website.  If you have felt indignity while dealing with family court, sign the Declaration of Family Rights petition and join Murtari in Lyons.

Bill, if his child could have defended himself at the tender age of 2, Father's wouldn't have to do this kind of crap for equality in family law. It is not immature to put your own life at risk to gain justice & equality for innocent and defenseless victims. Perhaps it is you, who by your opposition of this idea, who needs to 'grow up'.
