On November 15, 2009 San Antonio will host its second annual Rock N’ Roll Half Marathon and Marathon. Over 30,000 runners hit the pavement last year for the spectacular event. This year rock bands and cheerleaders will once again line the streets from the Alamo to the AT&T Center to pump the runners along on their 13.1 mile trek to victory.

The half marathon is a fantastic way for families to set a common goal, work and prepare together, and reach victory on the day of the race, all the while improving everyone’s health. The length of the ½ marathon is 13.1 miles, half of the full 26.2 mile race named after the run made by Pheidippides from the Battle of Marathon to Athens in 490 B.C. You can walk or jog the course, and strollers and wheelchair participants are allowed. Encourage the whole family to roll out for the event!
Note: This is a popular event and does fill up quickly. Don’t wait until it’s too late! You can register and pay online or you can cover your registration fee through fundraising. Regular fees for the half marathon are $90 per person and increase to $95 after August 31. Click here to register for this event.
