The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) sent out an email today, warning of a phishing scam that is going around. The fraudulent email claims that the CDC is now requiring all people to post their H1N1 vaccination profile on the CDC website. It also says that while the H1N1 vaccination is not obligatory, the posting of information is mandatory.
When you click on the links contained within the email, a malicious code could be installed on your computer. Make sure all firewalls and security software is up-to-date. Do not click on embedded links from someone you do not know. Be cautious about what kind of information you enter online.
Protect your family's records and privacy by checking with your family physicians if you ever receive some kind of request, such as this one. If a request is legitimate, they will provide you with the necessary information.
