December 21, 2009 – Susan Powell has been missing for two weeks. Police are not saying if they have new evidence in the case, they are saying Joshua Powell, Susan’s husband, is the only person of interest. And while he’s a person of interest, he’s not a suspect in the case.
PEOPLE reported his friends wonder how he can leave Utah, where he and Susan lived for the past five years, while his wife is still missing.
But police say he’s free to come and go. He’s not a suspect in the case. He’s not under surveillance. They can’t control his movements.
PEOLE quoted police as saying, "We can't control his movements. But we hope to still try and maintain contact with him so we can have an interview with him at some point."
They want more details about Josh on the day Susan went missing and the time he took his sons camping in the Utah West Desert. "We would still dearly love to have an interview with him and have an open request, invitation, whatever you want to call it...for him to do that," says McLachlan.
Police also want to know about the 24-hour period Josh went missing two days after Susan disappeared. It was the same day police seized his van and he rented a car for the day.
