Every parent can think of those times when all they needed was an hour or two to get something done, whether it was a business call, a trip to the grocery store, or just a few moments to breath. But when it comes to occasional childcare, parents don't have many options- if the babysitter is unavailable or grandma is sick, what can you do? Well, a new option has just opened in Woodinville: Nest.
Nest bills itself as high-quality, "flexible, hourly childcare" for kids ages 2 to 6 years old. That is a pretty good description of what they provide. For about $8 per hour, parents can drop their children off at the friendly, playful center for up to four hours at a time. The center is arranged like a cheerful preschool, with different areas dedicated to art, dress-up, physical play, even relaxing. There are teachers with child care experience, including the directors of the school who have early childhood education backgrounds. The teachers lead circle time and craft projects, and make sure everyone enjoys their time there.
One of the great perks of Nest: no reservations required. Parents can drop off kids anytime during the day (Monday through Thursday: 9am-6pm; Friday: 9am-10pm; Saturday, 4pm-10pm). Reservations are also not required for Parent's Night Out on Fridays and Saturdays, which will give parents time for date night or other errands. They will accommodate kids up to 9 years old, offering active Wii video games in addition to the regular activities. Parent's Night Out costs $25 for the first child, $15 for an additional child.
Nest was founded by two Eastside moms, Meredith Doleac and Jana Kaas, who wanted to create a fun, safe, and engaging place for kids. "We wanted to provide a place where parents could drop their kids off for a few hours - whenever they needed - and that the children would feel safe away from home,” said Maas. And it is clear they are willing to do whatever it takes to make kids and parents feel comfortable. Got a kid struggling with separation issues? They will help make the child comforatable, and even give parents a call to let them know how things are going. Your child isn't potty-trained yet? They even change diapers. "Even moms with kids in diapers need help sometimes!" explained Doleac.
If you are looking for a new place to let your chicks play, Nest is a nice place to settle in.
