Many of us are trying to find ways to save money while giving great gifts and decorating our homes for the holiday season no matter what holiday we celebrate from Christmas to Kwanzza. One way we can get together as a family and save money on gifts and decorations is to find wonderful holiday/Christmas gifts that are unique and special and we can make at home.
Supplies needed to make your own Christmas floral arrangement or gift:
clean empty baby food jar - any size or shape
assorted holiday florals, berries and flowers
cellophane wrap cut into square (your choice of colors) I like the red and green, small gift bags can work too
your choice of holiday colored ribbons
To create your own Christmas, Kwanzaa, or Hanukkah floral arrangement gift:
- Wash and dry thoroughly baby food jars if you haven't already.
- Take a square cut from cellophane wrap and place it around a small amount of air dry clay
- Insert square of cellophane and clay into bottom of baby food jar - make sure that the clay is high enough to hold floral stems.
- Insert floral stems into the clay and let air dry.
- Tie a ribbon around the mouth of the jar.

I'm all for making homemade holiday decor- especially when it's so much cheaper (and usually better quality) than buying store made ones!
Wonderfully helpful article! I tweeted it :-)

Lisa, how do you find the time? I have 2 part-time jobs, and write on 4 sites, and I really struggle just to do this.
Thanks!

Good one, Lisa. BTW, is the place you're talking about in Knoxville Ali Baba's? Little order-at-the-counter spot?
Sweet idea!
Clever!
I just learned a trick of putting a penny in the water to preserve the flowers. Love flowers!
Got something to say?
