There's a new tutor in town and it's called Tutor Doctor. Though internationally known and recognized Tutor Doctor has only recently opened its doors here in the Houston/Katy area. Find out answers to your frequently asked question about the Tutor Doctor services and program.

What is Tutor Doctor?  Tutor Doctor is an international family oriented franchise that provides academic and tutoring assistance to your child whether they are trying to get ahead, stay ahead or even need a little help to reach their potential academically.

How is Tutor Doctor different from other tutoring programs like Club Z, Kaplan or Sylvan?  I recently had the opportunity to ask Parker Knapp, owner and educational consultant of Tutor Doctor Katy this question.  "Tutor Doctor is a holistic approach; utilizing teachers, the school district, parents, tutors and the student to attain academic achievement."   This particular program works to rebuild missing foundation skills to help our children better master new concepts.  It also provides services to help you children "get ahead," pursue other skills and college test preparation.

Another difference is that this tutoring program works with the students existing curriculum whether it is in Lamar, Katy, Houston school districts, private schools or homeschoolers.  It is a one on one environment that gives students the freedom to make mistakes and learn from them building not only foundation skills but confidence in your student.

How does Tutor Doctor work?  Contact Parker Knapp directly and request your free assessment and family consultation.  This is a complete assessment, addressing not only academic and study skills but looking at the world around the student and determining what other situations maybe making learning difficult.  You are then provided with your study plan needs and pricing.

What about the tutors? After all this is a one on one environment.  When I asked the owner about this particular safety concern they informed me that:

  • tutors are screened, finger printed and background checked
  • credentials and experience as well as personality and goals are explored to find the best fit between tutor and student
  • absolutely no tutoring session occurs in your home unless a parent or guardian is present

Tutor Doctor advocates that every child can be successful, both academically and personally given the right environment.  They just try to give parents and students the right environment to get them on their way.
